Proving that Detroit-style pizza was no flash in the (rectangular) pan, Emmy Squared passed the 20-unit milestone in 2022 and grew sales by 35%. The casual-dining concept was born of the New York-based Pizza Loves Emily group, co-founded by Emily Hyland and chef Matt Hyland, who later brought on Howard Greenstone and Ken Levitan as partners. Known for pizza with the Detroit-style crispy bottom, fluffy dough and cheesy "frico" crust, the concept is also famous for its double-stacked burger called Le Big Matt.
